For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love. Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have. But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

I went into this expecting no more than a heated romance between friends and that was exactly what I got. The plot is simple and predictable, couple is friends but has deeper feelings, they finally give into the feelings, then a fight/miscommunication drives them apart, they make up. This is the plot for many romances but with interesting characters, steamy sex scenes, and great quotes I can be really sucked into these types of stories.

Sydney has been in love with Kyler for as long as he can remember. She has only ever had one disastrous douche of a boyfriend and is often pinning away for Kyler. Kyler on the other hand has had many many girls. When a ski trip strands the two in a cabin, Sydney finally decides to make her feelings known. Told through both their POVs we see their relationship develop past friendship.

Syd was the kind of shy sweet best friend. Kyler was like many of J. Lynn's male characters, sexy, arrogant, and promiscuous. She is great at writing these types of relationships but one of these days I would really love to see the roles reversed with a more arrogant outspoken female and a shy quiet male. Sydney is obviously in love with Kyler but Kyler's actions made me immediately think he was into her too. Kyler is always chasing away guys Syd talks to and pulling her into his lap and being flirty. I don't know about you all but my guy friends are usually pushing me to get laid not scaring the guys away. And they sure as heck don't have me sit in their laps?!!

They head up to a ski cabin but bad weather leaves the two of them stranded. Things heat up but in a rocky way. But J. Lynn definitely writes a great love scene and lots of swoony quotes. Also as you already know I am just a huge sucker for a best friends romance. There is a part where they are looking at picture of the two of them as kids and it's just so cute. So nice to know that someone who has been with you all your life and knows you so well will be your partner in every way.

The two are unsure where the relationship will go later and some drama ensues. There is also a little random mystery plotline thrown in that I found to not really be needed. It added a little drama but it's a heavy romance and that is fine with me as long as I know it going in. Anyone who loves a steamy best friend romance should enjoy it as long as you aren't expecting a lot of action otherwise.

"My clothes? Where are my clothes?"
His answering grin was pure sin. "You're not going to need any clothes today, baby."

"You’re weird."
"I know." I lifted my head so my chin rested on his chest. "But you love me?" His lips tipped up at the corners. "I love you as much as a kid loves Santa."
I laughed. "That’s serious."
"Hardcore," he murmured.

"You’re standing by yourself talking about tits?" Kyler asked from behind me.
I gave a little shriek and spun around. "God…"
A sexy half-grin appeared. "I need to keep a better eye on you, if that’s what you talk about when you’re alone."

Don't mind predictability at all - it's all about the characters:)

  3. Sometimes predictable is exactly what you need but I agree, Jennifer can write and it would be fun to see her reverse the roles a little to shack it up.
    Great review!

  6. I haven't read a bunch of overly glowing reviews on this one. I think it would be a nice enjoyable read and I love best friend romances but I don't think this falls into the WOW category. Don't you think it is a little cheesy that the cover has a shirtless guy in a snowstorm? Who does that?

  7. I freakin loved this book!!!! Both Kyler and Sydney are fantastic characters and I loved their relationship. The romance was totally hot! Jennifer really doesn't disappoint. I thought the mystery was a nice touch, but it took a backseat to the romance, but like you said I think its forgivable in a romance focused plot. Glad you enjoyed this! Lovely review, Jennifer! :D
