Q: Summer Reading. What was your favorite book that you were REQUIRED to read when you were in school?

Oh man I admit I hated required reading. Most of the time I read the cliff notes. I hate doing anything I am told to do lol I just got back into reading once I graduated college because forced reading is no fun.
But if I had to choose it would be Night by Elie Weisel
It was so sad but a powerful and important story.

 Night

Night A terrifying account of the Nazi death camp horror that turns a young Jewish boy into an agonized witness to the death of his family...the death of his innocence...and the death of his God. Penetrating and powerful, as personal as The Diary Of Anne Frank, Night awakens the shocking memory of evil at its absolute and carries with it the unforgettable message that this horror must never be allowed to happen again.

  4. I had to read Night for class. I read it the night before the exam, because he said that there was going to be an essay question worth 15 points. It wasn't there. Even though I like it, I don't like it as much as I think I would if it wasn't for that class.

  5. I agree - required reading isn't fun! After I finished school, I realized then that those readings weren't so bad after all... lol.

I don't think many of us realized or remembered to put The Diary of Anne Frank on the list. I saw a play of it in elementary and read it many times throughout my years at school... loved it. Totally forgot about it!

Thanks for stopping by my FF. Followed you back :0)

  6. I agree - I kind of hated forced reading too. But some of the books turned out to be good! I don't know how I forgot about Night...probably because that one wasn't summer reading, but I did read it in 10th grade and we had to write our own short story related to it. I remember I was home sick from school with something gross and I was writing my story and I ended up getting an A+ on it. That was a pretty proud moment. :)

    Have a lovely weekend!

  12. I never even thought of Night. I was a sophomore in high school when I read it. We were only supposed to read a chapter a night, but I read the whole thing.
