WOW #86

I'm waiting on

 Promise of Shadows

Promise Of Shadows by Justina Ireland
Release Date March 11th 2014

Zephyr Mourning has never been very good at being a Harpy. She’d rather watch reality TV than learn forty-seven ways to kill a man, and she pretty much sucks at wielding magic. Zephyr was ready for a future pretending to be a normal human instead of a half-god assassin. But all that changes when her sister is murdered—and she uses a forbidden dark power to save herself from the same fate.

Zephyr is on the run from a punishment worse than death when an unexpected reunion with a childhood friend (a surprisingly HOT friend) changes everything. Because it seems like Zephyr might just be the Nyx, a dark goddess made flesh that is prophesied to change the power balance. For hundreds of years the half-gods have lived in fear, and Zephyr is supposed to change that.

But how is she supposed to save everyone when she can’t even save herself?

Why I'm Waiting?
This one sounds unique with the main character being a Harpy. Plus I love childhood friend romances.

Landry Park (Landry Park, #1)

Landry Park by Bethany Hagen
Release Date February 4th 2014

Madeline Landry is born into a world of influence and luxury, a world of estates and gardens fueled by nuclear power and maintained by a caste of people called the Rootless. When a Gentry girl is attacked, it is the Rootless who are blamed, even though Madeline knows better.

As she searches for the truth, she can't escape the rumors of revolution and retribution circulating through the ballrooms, and neither can she escape the city's new golden boy, Captain David Dana, who has secrets of his own. Soon, she finds herself forced to choose between her duty and her desires, her ancestral destiny and her conscience, and her choice will shake the very foundations of the world she was born to rule.

Why I'm Waiting?
This one also sounds unique and exciting.

  1. I already have Laundry Park on my to-read list but I've never seen a Promise of Shadows. Seems like there's a hell of a lot changing in Zephyr's life so it might be an interesting read as well. I hope you enjoy reading them both. Great picks!

  17. Landry Park sounds brilliant. I'm really looking forward to that one! I'm not sure about Promise of Shadows yet, as I didn't really like the author's debut a great deal, but I know I probably won't be able to resist a childhood friends romance. ;) Great picks!
