The fate of the fae world is in her hands ... Violet Fairdale is in big trouble. Her home is gone, her beloved forest lies in ruins, the guy she gave her heart to has deserted her—and she doesn’t remember any of it. The powerful Lord Draven is taking over, brainwashing guardians into fighting for him. No one is safe from the evil spreading throughout the fae world. As alliances are forged between the remaining free fae, Vi struggles to reclaim her identity and figure out where she belongs in this new world. When someone from her past shows up, life gets even more complicated. He brings with him a long-forgotten weapon and an ancient prophecy that places Vi at the center of the fight against Draven. With the future of the fae world at stake, can Vi carry out the prophecy’s instructions before it’s too late?

I'll keep this as spoiler free for the series as possible. The last book ended with quite a shocking event. There was destruction, death and Violet losing her memory. Now the faerie world is in hiding from Draven and his evil ways. He has faeries marked and brainwashed and is slowly taking over the faerie kingdom. Violet lost without her memory joins an unlikely group and together they figure out how to stop him. Loved the new characters and the expansion of the world building and what it means to be a guardian and how they are not as perfect as we were first lead to believe.

Ryn is obviously sad and worried about Violet's memory loss but luckily he is easy to fall in love with and we get to see Violet fall in love with him all over again. No lack of swoontastic quotes. I marked many passages in my kindle. I love their dates with the glow worm butts lighting the mood. LOL Lots of great romantic moments even in the middle of a war.  But it is war indeed so there is more death and destruction and even some crying on my part which I'm sure you all know I'm a big softie by now.

The enemy used to be someone different in the beginning. He was a character I really liked and then he got pushed into a world he didn't understand and didn't know how to escape from. It was sad that things had to go that way for him. I liked that it was different and quite a turn of events. Not something I had predicted at all but I felt really bad for him. Other than that I was very happy with the way things turned out. Great ending! Great series! So sad it is over :-(

"Really?" I feel my eyebrows pinch together. "So . . . we used to argue a lot?"
"A lot' would be an understatement."
I nod as I try to figure out what kind of relationship Ryn and I had. I find my nod turning into a shake. "That doesn't sound . . . healthy. Or enjoyable."
With a win, he says, "There was a lot of kissing too."

"Are you telling me I have to win your heart all over again?"
" I guess."
"Challenge accepted."

"I mean, I could tell you about the first time you realized you were in love with me. I just thought that might make you a little uncomfortable."

"So if tonight is the last night we ever have, I want to spend it with you."

"Since the moment I figured out that you were the one I wanted by my side for the rest of my life, I've never thought of anyone else."

"What's that?"
"Hmm?" His kisses move across the other side of my neck. I slip my hand down his back and into his pocket. "You just want to feel my butt," he says between kisses.

Rating: 5/5

Rachel Morgan was born in South Africa and spent a large portion of her childhood living in a fantasy land of her own making. After completing a degree in genetics, she decided science wasn’t for her—after all, they didn’t approve of made-up facts. These days she spends much of her time immersed in fantasy land once more, writing fiction for young adults. When she isn't writing, she's reading (duh!), catching up on addictive TV series, and baking things that almost always include chocolate.
