When eighteen-year-old Miranda chases a purse snatcher on the Las Vegas Strip, the last thing she expects is for the pursuit to turn into an extended game of hide-and-seek. All Miranda wants are the old black and white photographs buried at the bottom of her purse. They’re the only things she has left of the grandmother she never knew. But how much is she willing to put on the line to save them? And is it possible she’s falling in love with a thief?
Catch is a novella.

Miranda and her sister Julia are on vacation in Las Vegas. They are taking pictures to look like the exact ones their grandmother took. Then a man grabs Miranda's purse that has the pictures in it and takes off. Miranda chases him because the pictures are irreplaceable. Then they begin to contact each other through cell phones.

I love unconventional couples and odd ways of meeting but this one is a little out there. Once you get past the fact that she is doing something really really dumb, like chasing after a theif who could be very dangerous, it is an interesting story. I also thought it odd that her mother went along with trying to find him too. When Miranda does meet up with him there is an interesting story as to why he stole her purse.

It was a quick one hour read and something fun to squeeze into the reading schedule. I love novellas for that reason but then also kind of regret not getting more to the story. More about Miranda and what happens next. It ends with everything wrapped up in enough of a satisfying way though.

"I like to play games, and you're fun to play them with."

"The truth is, I think you're worth a risk."

Rating: 3/5

  4. I don't think I'd be chasing a purse snatcher, but this does sound like a lot of fun.
