Character Interview with Ryn

Hi Ryn! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today!

Sure, I’ve always got time for pretty ladies blogs.

For those just now meeting you can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m a trainee at the Guild of Guardians, which, if you haven’t heard, is where faeries go to learn how to kick the asses of misbehaving fae creatures. I’m pretty damn good at what I do, but Violet, my main competition, is better likes to think she’s better.

What do you enjoy most about Guardian training?

The physical aspect is pretty exhilarating. I enjoy the adrenalin rush of a really good fight. But the best part is when I get to defeat some really evil son-of-a-**** creature and take him back to the Guild to be locked up, never to hurt anyone again.

Who do you think will graduate top of the class?

Me. Duh. [Rolls eyes] Okay, if I’m being honest, I know Violet has the greatest chance of graduating top of the class. I’d sure love to beat her, though.

What do you think of Vi and Nate's relationship?

It isn’t really any of my business, but I was shocked to find out Vi was still seeing that human-who-turned-out-to-be-a-halfling after she was meant to make him forget everything. I mean, Violet Fairdale? Breaking the rules like that? I never would have guessed.

You have quite a reputation, so are you really playing the field or do you have someone special?

Playing the field? I’m offended. Where did you get your information from? [laughs] Yeah, I know, I might be partly responsible for spreading the rumors that resulted in that reputation. It helps keep the Guild girls away when they think I’m hooking up with Undergrounders all over the place (which does happen occasionally, but not as much as they think).

And you want to keep the Guild girls away because ...

Too many emotions and overreactions and giggling and ... you know. Immaturity. [Pause] And don’t come back with a comment about my own lack of maturity!

Okay then, what are your best and worst qualities?

Best quality ... Hmm. I like to think I’m loyal to those I care about. I’d do pretty much anything for them. And I think I can safely say that my worst quality is my kneejerk reaction to say something hurtful to whoever I’m talking to. It’s become something that just happens automatically. Bad, I know.

What are you most excited for once you graduate?

Getting involved in more in-depth assignments. You know, assignments that take more than half an hour to complete. Like spending months undercover in order to unearth massive illegal operations. Something like that.

What is your idea of the perfect date?

[winks] I guess you’ll have to read The Faerie Prince to find out.

I was hoping he would share a tiny bit of it but I guess you guys will have to read the book to see Ryn's romantic side!

Guardian trainee Violet Fairdale is just weeks away from one of the most important occasions of her life: graduation. After messing up big time by bringing a human into the fae realm, Vi needs to step up her game and forget about Nate if she hopes to graduate as the top guardian of her year. Everything would be fine if she wasn’t forced to partner with Ryn, her ex-friend, ex-enemy, current ‘sort of friend’. They might be trying to patch up their relationship, but does she really want to spend a week undercover with him for their final assignment? On top of that, the possibly insane Unseelie Prince is still on the loose, free to ‘collect’ as many specially talented faeries as he can find—and Vi is still at the top of his list. Add in faerie queens, enchanted storms, complicated not-just-friends feelings, and a murder within the Guild itself, and graduation is about to become the least of Vi’s problems.

Violet is nearing graduation but has to complete one final test mission. She is partnered with Ryn who is slowly becoming her friend again. Their mission is important but seems simple enough. With all the extra alone time with Ryn, Vi slowly begins to see him as a true friend and perhaps more? The mission takes a disastrous turn and Vi is determined to graduate at the top of her class.

I loved the first book but I think I loved this one even more! In the first installment I really liked Nate but towards the end as we saw more Ryn I became intrigued with him. Ryn was always a great scene stealer and him having such a big part in this book made me happy. He is snarky and has a bit of an ego but with Vi he always lets his vulnerable side show. Partly because they have known each other since they were kids but the death of his brother really hurt them and I am happy they are slowly putting that behind them. They have great chemistry and sexual tension. I kept waiting for something to happen and when it finally did sparks were really flying. They still have a lot to get past but Ryn pulls out some romantic gestures that I don't think anyone could refuse. Lots of swoon worthy scenes.

Vi has had a hard time moving past Nate but I love that she is still so determined to do well and graduate at the top. While I am totally loving Ryn, I still feel bad for Nate and was kind of hoping he could redeem himself. His character is taking an interesting and surprising turn. Vi continues to kick butt and wants to prove herself as a great guardian. She takes matters into her own hands and finds herself and her loved ones in a terrible bind. I was quite shocked with the ending and left a bit hanging. Things were going so well so of course bam everything has to fall apart! Anxiously awaiting the next book. Couldn't put this one down!

"Now you're the one joking."
"Of course." I sigh. "I have nothing but the lowest expectations when it comes to you, Ryn."
"And I shall continue to live down to them."

"I think you just graduated from Pixie Sticks to Sexy Pixie."
"Oh, bite me," I snap as I head to the bedside table to fetch my miniature emergency and potions kits.
"I guess I could," he says, "but that would probably make thins a little awkward between us."

"He'd probably be horrified if he knew I want to throw myself on top of him and tear his shirt off. I'm kind of horrified myself."

"I don't want to be with any Undergrounder, V. I want you."

"It just feels right when you're beside me. It feels like I've been lost in the desert for years, and...I've finally come home."

"It had better be good."
"It's always good when I'm talking."

Rating: 5/5

The Faerie Guardian (Creepy Hollow, #1) Protecting humans from dangerous magical creatures is all in a day’s work for a faerie training to be a guardian. Seventeen-year-old Violet Fairdale knows this better than anyone—she’s about to become the best guardian the Guild has seen in years. That is, until a cute human boy who can somehow see through her faerie glamor follows her into the Fae realm. Now she’s broken Guild Law, a crime that could lead to her expulsion. The last thing Vi wants to do is spend any more time with the boy who got her into this mess, but the Guild requires that she return Nate to his home and make him forget everything he’s discovered of the Fae realm. Easy, right? Not when you factor in evil faeries, long-lost family members, and inconvenient feelings of the romantic kind. Vi is about to find herself tangled up in a dangerous plot—and it’ll take all her training to get out alive.
