When your past catches up, it's time to stop running. Jake Mathews messed up yet again— but this time his misstep lands him in the hospital. He wakes up to find the girl of his dreams and the memory of having his deepest secret revealed. Emily Taylor needs a break. She's been working double shifts as a nurse just to pay the bills while trying to heal a broken heart. The last thing she needs is to fall for a patient. Strapped with community service and the knowledge that he's disappointed everyone in his life, Jake is determined not to let Emily slip through his fingers. Emily wants Jake, but can she really open herself up to heartache again?

Jake is my favorite Clayton Falls guy so I was very excited for his book and was not disappointed. Jake finally fesses up to some of his past wrong doings to his brother, Ben and his wife Molly. Upset over the whole event he heads to a bar, gets drunk, then crashes his car on the ride home. This mistakes leads him to realizing he needs to make some changes in his life. As does the hot nurse he meets and begins to date.

Jake is very charming so of course even in the hospital I could believe he would pick up a girl. LOL Loved the jokes about it throughout the book as well. I love Jake's humor and even his ego but I've always thought he was a good guy and he proves it well in this book. He is still young and kind of wild but he steps up to the challenge of community service and to being a great guy for Emily. Emily is very hardworking and has serious responsibilities so she is not sure if Jake could even be more than a short fling. Jake did a great job of being there for Emily and showing his responsible side.

Sometimes mistakes help people make changes and so they can be a good thing. Jake's community service leads him to a new job he enjoys and gets him to stop drinking. Also love that Ben and Molly as well as Becca and Gavin from previous books make appearances again. It was nice to know that Jake and Becca were still friends because I enjoyed their friendship during Becca's book. Love the romance and journeys the characters take in this series. Hoping that maybe Emily and Jake's friends, Mel and Cole, might get their own book next?! Would love to see the series continue as I've really enjoyed all three books and couples so far.

"I'm sure that was a pity number, but I don't care. I'm going to heal better now that I know I'll see you again."

"Won't I seem desperate if I say yes?"
"I already sound desperate. Why not join the club?"

"I thought you weren't free this week."
"Yeah, well...some time opened up."
"I knew I was a good kisser..."

There are plenty of less complicated girl out there. Have fun.
I don't want uncomplicated. I want you.

"I've never met anyone like you before. I've never been with a girl I couldn't get enough of. You make my heart race, you make me feel out of control, and I love every second of it."

Rating: 4/5

Derailed (Clayton Falls #1) by Alyssa Rose Ivy
When you're lost, sometimes the only place you can go is home. Broken over the death of her fiancé, Molly leaves law school to return to her childhood home in North Carolina. Expecting to lay low until she can figure out what else to do with her life, she finds herself in the arms of her high school sweetheart, the boy who represents everything from the past she tried to leave behind. Looking for an escape, she instead finds a way back to the girl she almost forgot existed and a future she never dreamed possible.

Veer (Clayton Falls, #2)
Veer (Clayton Falls #2) by Alyssa Rose Ivy
Only when you let go can you learn to live. Between the death of her mother and pushing through law school without her best friend, it's been a tough year for Becca. Needing a break from Boston, she moves to a tiny coastal North Carolina town for a relaxing summer. After bumping heads repeatedly with a local cop, she realizes her summer will be anything but quiet. Three years after a career ending injury ruins his chance to play Major League Baseball, Gavin has a distrust of northerners and lately girls in general. He wants nothing to do with a girl who is only in town for the summer. When the two give in to their impossible attraction, they realize that they may just have found the key to freeing themselves from the ghosts of their pasts.
