Love is the ultimate rush. Freshman year of college isn't easy. But with a friend like Libby Patterson, it is unforgettable. Libby is honest and fearless and adorable. She's the girl on campus that everyone knows. The life of every party. Infectious and addictive, Libby captivates all those around her. Particularly her roommate Honor and their boy bestie Toby. But three isn't always a magic number. And there's more to this trio than what everyone sees. When Honor finds herself falling for an artist, and Libby doesn’t approve, and Toby finds himself watching Libby more than he should...the sides of their circle become strained. The three are suddenly stretched between friendship, love and taking sides. They must fight to hold on to each other. But the tighter the hold, the harder it gets. Especially when Libby's unpredictability turns dangerous. Now it's up to Honor and Toby to save her from the downward spiral that could break their circle for good.

Honor is a gorgeous model but she is shy. She was judged for modeling so she wanted a fresh start in college. Her roommate Libby is her opposite. Loud, open, honest, easy going, and wants to move every piece of furniture in their dorm room daily. They run into Toby in the hallway one day and they become an inseparable threesome. The story alternates between Honor and Toby's POV.

Honor was a sweet girl that I really liked. She is pretty but shy and also really wants to be liked for herself and not her looks. Past boyfriends have been all about her looks so she is keeping the modeling hidden so that people will see her differently. Honor meets Sawyer, a painter who wants to paint her. Afraid he only likes her for her beauty she pulls back. She is scared but Libby helps break her out of her shell and take chances.

Libby is exhausting to read about. She is fun and honest at times but she also takes it a bit far. I felt like she was purposely pushing people too much and making them uncomfortable on purpose. I'm all for trying new things but I think at times she just wanted to get a rise out of people. She also came across a bit selfish and unsupportive. She was so worried Honor would move away to become a famous model that she didn't really give Honor a lot of support in that area. Some of Libby's issues eventually come to light which makes her actions more understandable.

Toby was a sweet and geeky guy. I loved their circle of friends. Toby did think both girls were hot but it never felt like a love triangle. Honor wanted Sawyer and Toby wanted Libby. Libby was kind of wild so I was never sure who she really wanted. I wasn't a huge fan of the romances. I had originally wanted Honor and Toby together. LOL But the book is more about their circle of friendship which was different. At times I did feel like maybe it was holding them back. They had a lot of jealously between them. Not in the romantic way but in the way that they didn't want anything to come between the three of them. They all have to eventually make new friends, venture out on new jobs, and fall in love. The circle had to realize they could still have each other and have other things. An unique look at friendship and college.

"So yeah, I'm the asshole cliche of being stuck in a love triangle that only exists in my mind."

"What? Falling in love? It's what people do, Libby. And yeah, sometimes it ends up in heartbreak, but you know, sometimes it doesn't."
She shakes her head back and forth. "It always does. Look at me. In love with my two best friends and I know I'm going to end up broken-hearted. Because people leave me. I'm too much for everyone. I have too much love and too much heart, and people suffocate and pull away. That's what Honor's doing. That's what you'll do."

Rating: 4/5

Jolene wears juvenile T-shirts, worn-out Chucks, and eats too much chocolate. She makes up words, drinks Shirley Temples, and suffocates a little without her iPod.

Janna wears juvenile pajama pants, worn-out Chucks, and wakes up ridiculously early. Pen name abuser. Rule Breaker. Trouble maker. Corrupter of youth. In books.

  1. Oh! It's kind of nice that this is more about friendship than a love triangle. You've got me interested, Jennifer. Great review!

  2. I read a review for this yesterday on Christy's blog and I think this sounds like a good one. So many of the NA are so full of drama and I think this one is a bit lighter, right? I like that it builds on friendship as well. I have read several of Jolene's books and I really like her stuff so I am up for reading this one.

  9. The story sound different, at least compared to what I've recently been reading - funny though, I'm also currently reading a book with an ex-model that's trying to put that behind her. I'm glad it didn't feel like a love triangle.

    Glad you enjoyed it :)
