Guardian trainee Violet Fairdale has officially been suspended for bringing a human into the fae realm. No assignments, no training, and goodbye to that position at the top of the class. While this sucks, it at least allows her time to secretly keep visiting Nate, the human boy who caused her suspension in the first place. It’s not the wisest move to continue breaking Guild Law, but no one’s going to find out. And Nate is worth the risk, isn’t he?

To prevent herself from going into assignment withdrawal, Vi throws herself into investigating Nate’s real mother, Angelica, a woman who seems to be mysteriously connected to the world of the fae. Nate’s never given her much thought, but that was before an insane faerie abducted him in order to blackmail Angelica out of hiding. Now Nate wants answers, and Vi’s got the perfect ability to help him. (A novelette)

Here is my review from Guardian (Creepy Hollow #1)

In the second novella we pick right up where the first one left off. Violet is on a one week suspension because she allowed a human to pass into the fae realm. She continues to visit Nate against all the rules. Being a Guardian is everything she has ever wanted and everything she has been working her entire life to become. She doesn't want to risk it and must stop seeing Nate. But she figures during her one week suspension she will at least keep her promise to help him find his mom, then of course she will end things with him.....

I don't want to give too much more of the plot away because as I've said before it is a novella so it's short. I'll just talk about what I enjoyed. I loved the journey that Violet and Nate went on to find his mother. I had some theories about Nate that were proven correct. I am totally intrigued with her classmate Ryn. At first I thought maybe he liked her and then in this book he is seen at a very suspicious place. I'm really curious as to what he is up to. I loved seeing more of the fae realm and seeing Violet's house from Nate's perspective. He always has the funniest things to say. Violet's reactions to Nate in this one were also funny. This was a really fun read that I read all in one night and once again look forward to the next novella. Especially after the ending! Something happened to Nate and I must know what it means!

"And you had a make-out session with him on his front lawn."
"Back lawn, actually."

"Crap. I should have left this for a more appropriately clothed time of the day."

"It's hard to say no to Nate, even when he's wearing a shirt. I should have made him cover his face too."

Rating: 5/5 Stars!

  3. Oh my goodness, Jen. You're so dangerous when you write 5-star reviews for second books because it usually increases my TBR pile by two!! x) I know what you mean about some books being hard to talk about because you don't want to give anything away, especially for this shorter story, but you did a great job anyways :) I'm really intrigued about this series of novellas!

    Awesome review, Jen! <3 :)
