The military's digital photography software that captures one's aura--just like civilian profiler Abby Cooper can--sits in a drone aircraft that's been stolen. Abby springs into action to stop the criminals before they set their diabolical plan into motion, while making herself a prime target.

I'm always so unsure how and if I should review a book this far into a series. But since I haven't reviewed any of the other ones in the series, I figure I'll go ahead and try to give a rather light review and overview of the whole series. I picked up the first book in the series because I loved the idea of a psychic solving mysteries. I love my paranormal and I do love a good mystery with romance. This series has all that and is really fun and light. I always have a good laugh and enjoy myself. Abby has been a psychic working on different cases for the police almost since book one. While that sounds like it may get boring after awhile, it doesn't with this series. I love that the author comes up with such new and interesting mysteries every single book. She also always brings in new characters and new settings to keep things fresh.

At first I was missing Abby's best friend who didn't show up at all during this book but we get a new hot criminal Maks to fill the space. Something important from the government has been stolen and it's up to Dutch and Abby to bring it home. While Abby can't deny Maks is hot and definitely gets her heart racing, she will forever be devoted to super sweet Dutch. The two make an excellent pair although all their disagreements always make me chuckle. Dutch wants to protect Abby but Abby wants to stand by his side. There is always some interesting police action, shootings, fighting, arguments, disguises, and all around hilarious shenanigans. The mystery is usually always a shock to me too. I hate when it is predicable and for this book I especially didn't see the who done it coming. Already awaiting book 10!

"I don't want to wait," he whispered. "I want to marry you, Abigail Cooper, and putting it off feels wrong. We don't need a big fancy wedding. Just you, me, and the preacher." "Just promise me that you'll meet me at the end of that aisle, okay?"

"Oh, I come with skills," I told him with a stroke to his sideburn. Dutch grinned again. "Babe, I know all about those skills, and the minute these ribs heal and you feel one hundred percent, we're putting those skill to good use again."

Rating: 4/5 Stars!

  2. I have the whole series except this one. All of my books are paperback so I'm waiting to get this one in paperback too. It seems like it's taking forever. :(

  3. I love this series and I rarely see it mentioned on the review blogs I visit since it's more a mystery than paranormal. What I like most is the character progression.

Abby's life, personal and professional, is constantly changing and developing. So many series, 4 or 5 books in, have the character doing the same stuff, being only with the same people time after time.

    1. Yes I agree! I do love how Victoria Laurie brings in completely new characters and settings to spice things up. I loved the one where Abbie went to visit her hometown for a wedding. That was something completely new! I'm always excited to see what case she will be working on next. Thanks for stopping by!
