WOW #55

I'm waiting on January!
Great releases this month!

 Boundless (Unearthly, #3)

Boundless (Unearthly #3) by Cynthia Hand
Release Date January 22th 2013

The past few years held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner ever could have anticipated. Yet through the dizzying high of first love to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she could no longer deny was that she was never meant to have a normal life.

Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seemed like the best option, so she’s headed back to California—and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.

As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfill her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.

In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must choose her fate once and for all

Why I'm Waiting?
I'm waiting to see Clara and Tucker end up HEA! But if she ends up with Christian I'll throw the book through a wall!

Shades of Earth (Across the Universe, #3)

Shades of Earth (Across the Universe #3) by Beth Revis
Release Date January 15th 2013

Amy and Elder have finally left the oppressive walls of the spaceship Godspeed behind. They're ready to start life afresh--to build a home--on Centauri-Earth, the planet that Amy has traveled 25 trillion miles across the universe to experience.

But this new Earth isn't the paradise Amy had been hoping for. There are giant pterodactyl-like birds, purple flowers with mind-numbing toxins, and mysterious, unexplained ruins that hold more secrets than their stone walls first let on. The biggest secret of all? Godspeed's former passengers aren't alone on this planet. And if they're going to stay, they'll have to fight.

Amy and Elder must race to discover who--or what--else is out there if they are to have any hope of saving their struggling colony and building a future together. They will have to look inward to the very core of what makes them human on this, their most harrowing journey yet. Because if the colony collapses? Then everything they have sacrificed--friends, family, life on Earth--will have been for nothing.

FUELED BY LIES.
RULED BY CHAOS.
ALMOST HOME.

Why I'm Waiting?
What is on this planet? Dinosaurs or aliens? Also excited to see Amy's parents and everyone off the ship wake up. And hopefully, maybe, finally, Amy and Elder can relax and get their HEA!

 Asunder (Newsoul, #2)

Asunder (Newsoul #2) by Jodi Meadows
Release Date January 29th 2013

DARKSOULS
Ana has always been the only one. Asunder. Apart. But after Templedark, when many residents of Heart were lost forever, some hold Ana responsible for the darksouls–and the newsouls who may be born in their place.

SHADOWS
Many are afraid of Ana’s presence, a constant reminder of unstoppable changes and the unknown. When sylph begin behaving differently toward her and people turn violent, Ana must learn to stand up not only for herself but for those who cannot stand up for themselves.

LOVE
Ana was told that nosouls can’t love. But newsouls? More than anything, she wants to live and love as an equal among the citizens of Heart, but even when Sam professes his deepest feelings, it seems impossible to overcome a lifetime of rejection.

In this second book in the Incarnate trilogy, Ana discovers the truth about reincarnation and will have to find a way to embrace love and make her young life meaningful. Once again, Jodi Meadows explores the extraordinary beauty and shadowed depths of the soul in a story equal parts epic romance and captivating fantasy.

Why I'm Waiting?
Curious to see what happens when all the newsouls show up! And get more of Ana and Sam!

 The Madman's Daughter (The Madman's Daughter, #1)

The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd
Release Date January 29th 2013

In the darkest places, even love is deadly.

Sixteen-year-old Juliet Moreau has built a life for herself in London—working as a maid, attending church on Sundays, and trying not to think about the scandal that ruined her life. After all, no one ever proved the rumors about her father's gruesome experiments. But when she learns he is alive and continuing his work on a remote tropical island, she is determined to find out if the accusations are true.

Accompanied by her father's handsome young assistant, Montgomery, and an enigmatic castaway, Edward—both of whom she is deeply drawn to—Juliet travels to the island, only to discover the depths of her father's madness: He has experimented on animals so that they resemble, speak, and behave as humans. And worse, one of the creatures has turned violent and is killing the island's inhabitants. Torn between horror and scientific curiosity, Juliet knows she must end her father's dangerous experiments and escape her jungle prison before it's too late. Yet as the island falls into chaos, she discovers the extent of her father's genius—and madness—in her own blood.

Inspired by H. G. Wells's classic The Island of Dr. Moreau, The Madman's Daughter is a dark and breathless Gothic thriller about the secrets we'll do anything to know and the truths we'll go to any lengths to protect.

Why I'm Waiting?
Love books with crazy experiments and I also love The Island of Dr. Moreau. Handsome young assistant and crazy creatures killing on the island!

  37. I don’t even want to think of Clara possibly ending up with what’s his face. It will probably ruin the whole year for me, not to mention the series. I’m freaking terrified to read Boundless. I will NOT read one single review of this because you will be able to guess who she ends up with depending on which team the reader is on. (I still can’t believe people are Team Christian! Yuck!) I hope you don’t spoiler check this one :)

I liked Across the Universe but lost interest in the series after that.
Asunder? Eh, maybe I’ll read it depending on the reviews.
Madman’s Daughter sounds awesome and can’t wait to get that one too.
    Great picks!

  46. I cannot wait for Shades of Earth especially with how A Million Suns ended. I read and liked Unearthly, but still need to read Hallowed. And yeah for The Mad Man's Daughter...it sounds so intriguing!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm reading A million Suns the day before Shades of Earth is out. I would have not been able to take it otherwise.

And Boundless, I'm only reading that one if someone can confirm me Clara ends up with Tucker. Would you do the honors? hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  48. Now that Boundless is finally almost here I can finally take my signed copy of Hallowed I have up on my shelf that I've had FOREVER but refused to read until closer to the pub of book 3! The Madman's Daughter is one I am dying to try! It sounds SO darn good! I a loving the newer trend of retellings of old classic novels being redone lately. It's just too done fun! The other 2 series I haven't tried but they have awfully pretty covers! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading.

  50. I have everything but Boundless on my list! I just couldn't get into that series. Hopefully you don't have to damage your walls! I do hope we get to see all the unfrozen people and what exactly is on the planet. I can't wait for that one.
And Asunder. Oh Ana. I hope she gets to kick some butt in this one. And I am so intrigued by The Madman's Daughter.

    Hope they are good, right?

    Heather
